Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how I, the developer, collect, use, and share information when you use the MyFridge AI iOS application (“the App”). I aim to collect as little as possible — essentially just what the App needs to work.

  1. Information I Collect
    • Authentication Data
      • Phone Number: collected and verified via Firebase Authentication if you sign in with your phone.
      • Apple ID Data: the name and email you choose to share through Sign in with Apple. If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email,” I only receive the relay address.
    • Food & Fridge Data
      • The grocery items, quantities, dates, notes, and history you add are stored in your account in Google Cloud Firestore.
    • Receipt Images
      • When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent through my secure Cloud Function to Anthropic’s Claude to extract the food items. The image is processed to read the items and is not stored on my servers after processing; only the resulting item list is saved to your fridge.
    • Barcode Data
      • When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to the public Open Food Facts database to look up the product name and category.
    • Subscription Data
      • To manage your Pro subscription, RevenueCat and Apple process your subscription status and a device-generated identifier. I never receive or store your payment card details — Apple handles all billing.

    I do not use third-party advertising, and the App does not include third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDKs.

  2. How I Use Your Data
    • Provide & Maintain: enable core App functions (sign-in, receipt and barcode scanning, expiration prediction, recipes, and reminders).
    • Sync: keep your fridge and history available across your devices.
    • Security & Limits: detect and prevent unauthorized access, fraud, and abuse of AI usage limits.
  3. Sharing Your Data
    I will never sell your data. I share it only with the service providers needed to run the App:
    • Anthropic — processes receipt images and text prompts to power AI features.
    • Google Firebase — authentication, Cloud Firestore database, and Cloud Functions.
    • Open Food Facts — receives scanned barcode numbers for product lookups.
    • RevenueCat and Apple — manage your subscription and billing.
    • Legal Obligations — if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
    These providers are bound by their own terms and privacy commitments and process data only to provide their service.
  4. Data Security
    I use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and authenticated access rules, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your device and Apple ID protected and let me know of any security concerns.
  5. Data Retention
    I keep your account and fridge data until you delete it or delete your account. Receipt images are not retained after they are parsed.
  6. Your Rights & Choices
    • Access & Update: view and edit your items and account details directly in the App.
    • Delete: use “Delete account” in the App’s Account screen to erase your account, fridge, and history. You can also email me to request deletion.
    • Reminders: expiry reminders are optional and can be turned off in the App or in iOS Settings.
  7. Children’s Privacy
    The App is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe I have, please contact me for deletion.
  8. Changes to This Policy
    I may update this policy from time to time and will post the updated date here. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
